Research addresses

The doctoral programme in Economic History. Enterprises, Institutions and Cultures is divided into the following areas:

  • economic history, with reference to the transformations of economic systems and areas such as agriculture, industry, banking and finance, trade, technologies and mobility, population, resources and the environment, also in micro-historical terms;
  • the history of economic thought, with reference to the developments in time and space of theories, ideas and economic schools, in relation to the scientific, institutional and cultural context in which they were formulated, to the transmission of economic knowledge through writings, to the interrelationships between theories and interventions of economic policy, also from a comparative perspective;
  • the history of business and work, with reference to the evolution of companies and the role of actors (entrepreneurs, managers, etc.), labour markets and socio-demographic dynamics, work organisation and technological innovations, regulation of labour relations and industrial relations, welfare systems.
