The doctorate

The PhD project in Economic History. Enterprises, Institutions and Cultures touches on an area of particular importance for Università Cattolica, arising from the convergence of two disciplines, Economic History and History of Economic Thought, which have a long tradition of research, teaching and also a broader projection into political, cultural and institutional commitment to the service of the country. At the heart of the project is a perspective of study of the past which, aware of the urgencies of our time, aims to reconnect the economy to the other fundamental dimensions of human experience, such as the environment, technology, demography, the person in his or her own social formations, intellectual life, subjects and collective actions, public institutions, and states.

Thanks to the training activity, the research work, the periods of study spent abroad, and the scientific communication in qualified locations, the PhDs will be able to take on tasks and roles in the following functions:

  • academic career in doctoral disciplinary sectors and in related fields, in Italy and abroad;
