Informal pre-application
It is possible to participate in an informal pre-application phase at any time of the year by sending an email with the CV in English to the PhD Coordinator (Prof. Francesco Calderoni, francesco.calderoni@unicatt.it). Afterwards, the candidate may be asked to submit a research project in English and participate in a telephone or online interview to discuss the project. The candidate will receive an evaluation from the Coordinator with two possible outcomes:
- positive evaluation, which exempts the candidate from sending the research proposal and participating in the interview after the publication of the call. The candidate will formalize his/her application, after the publication of the announcement, by sending the documentation required in the announcement (see below);
- negative evaluation, which allows you to submit a formal application after having substantially revised the research proposal during the formal application period. The informal pre-application procedure is open all year round, with the exception of the period immediately preceding the publication of the official call for applications and until the deadline for submission of applications.
Formal application
The official call for each cycle (in Italian and English) is published on the web page of the Doctoral Office, usually between May and June. The call specifies the detailed procedure and the deadline (usually between the end of July and the beginning of August) for the submission of applications. The selection is then usually completed by the end of September. Applicants must fill in the application form available (after the publication of the call) on the web page.
All documents must be uploaded subsequently in the personal reserved area.
Research Proposal
Each candidate must submit a research proposal in English for their doctoral thesis. The proposal must be divided into the following sections:
- review of the state of the art;
- problem and research questions;
- objectives and methodology;
- expected results and possible limitations;
- bibliography.
Read the brochure for information on the admission criteria and for advice on writing the research proposal. It must not exceed 20,000 characters (including bibliography).
