Teaching activity

The School's educational activities include semester courses, seminars and workshops held by university professors and qualified Italian and foreign scholars.
The first-year courses are aimed at acquiring the fundamental scientific categories and methodologies for research in linguistic-literary disciplines.

In the second year, the disciplinary areas, themes and research perspectives that must constitute the horizon of a specialist in linguistic-literary disciplines are presented in a concise and critical way: linguistic theories, schools of literary criticism, interaction between language, literature and culture, intertextuality, methods and schools of textual analysis, translation practices, stylistics, communication theories, language acquisition and language teaching, of digital humanities, the tradition of European literature and comparative literature.

Finally, the third year, essentially dedicated to the writing of the dissertation, includes specialized conferences on specific topics, related to the research topics of the individual doctoral students.

In addition to this basic training, there are conferences and seminars held by speakers from other Italian and foreign universities, as well as courses offered by the University on scientific-academic communication ("public speaking", academic English, "transferable skills"), tools for bibliographic research and research funding, and lectures offered by the Pastoral Centre on the University's Catholic identity and research.
