Main objectives

The SID group's main objectives are to:

1. reconstruct the presence of women in sociology from the origins of the discipline, internationally and in the Italian context;

2. deepen, recover, translate the works of the so-called 'founding sisters';

3. investigate the cultural and social dimensions that have favoured or hindered the process of scientific legitimisation of female social scientists;

4. study women's access to the world of culture and academia, analysing constraints and opportunities in biographies, in comparison with men's careers, and in dialogue with other disciplinary perspectives.
