The PhD in Physical Exercise and Sport Sciences was created in collaboration between the University of Milan, the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart and the Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth and Tourism in Moscow. It is an innovative doctorate, which complies with the various parameters set by the Ministry of University and Research: it is international, intersectoral, interdisciplinary.
The programme develops a solid research training in the field of sports, deepening knowledge and methodologies with attention to the following areas:
- sport as a complex social phenomenon,
- sport performance,
- sport for all/health.
The PhD programme promotes collaborations with national and international research groups and with institutions that operate in an innovative way in the field of physical exercise and sport.
The international vocation of the doctoral programme is expressed in the involvement of cutting-edge foreign universities, with the consequent creation of networks that make possible the exchange and mobility of students and professors.
The primary objectives of the doctoral programme are:
- knowledge of the different paradigms and methodological approaches of research and intervention, useful for study and improvement with reference to the areas listed above;
- in-depth knowledge of phenomena related to sports areas, activities and practice;
- the ability to interdisciplinary synthesis of knowledge;
- the design and implementation of applicative and innovative projects inspired by the principles of research based on scientific hypotheses and evidence.
