Lectures and seminars:

The Doctoral School expects students to attend lectures and seminars, all held in English. The lectures are divided into compulsory lessons (basic courses) and elective lessons (advanced courses). For compulsory lessons, the student must be present at least 75% of the hours. Both compulsory and elective lessons will have theoretical (qualitative methods, quantitative methods, research process, writing, publishing, etc.) as well as practical (e.g., use of software, exercises, ...) contents.

In addition to the regular lectures, there will be scheduled moments for meetings, discussions, and monitoring with the tutor and fellow colleagues. These sessions aim to strengthen the resources provided by the doctoral community, allowing for the sharing of experiences and challenges among peers. It fosters a collaborative and supportive environment to enhance the overall doctoral experience and facilitate the development of skills and knowledge in the field of psychology. Students can, therefore, refer to the tutor of their academic year for practical matters, but, most importantly, they can turn to the tutor as a mentor to receive support and guidance in the learning process and to facilitate their integration and socialization within the academic organizational culture. 

Research Project:

During the three-year program, PhD students are also expected to work on a research project under the supervision of their advisor. The reporting of this project will take place in two main moments:

• By the end of the second year, PhD students will be required to defend their research project in front of the PhD School community. During this event, the students will receive feedback from both third-year PhD students and the Academic Board members.
• By the end of their third year, students must submit a draft of their final thesis in which they present their research project and results. The admission to the final examination will follow a procedure designed to ensure the high quality of the thesis and research. The draft thesis will be evaluated by the candidate's advisor and two external referees with expertise in the thesis topic. The thesis must meet the standard of a publishable paper or book. Based on the evaluations of the advisor and external referees, the Academic Board will decide whether to recommend that the candidate submits the thesis to the Examination Commission for the final examination and oral dissertation.
